Holiday Background

The goal of National Zoo Lovers Day is to raise awareness and bring extra support to your local zoo. As it stands today, there are over 350 zoological parks in the United States, with over 175 million visitors each year! That's over half of our population supporting their local zoos!

While many tourists enjoy viewing cute animals and learning about their habitats, the concept of the zoo serves a far greater purpose. These facilities are a safe haven for displaced animals and endangered species—a place where such animals can be protected, studied, and eventually bred.

Enjoy the Zoo From Your Own Home

Obviously, the climate is a little different this year, as many zoos nationwide have closed their doors to the public due to the COVID-19 outbreak. While admission to these parks may be discouraged, zoos remain very much essential for the animals that call it their home and the people tasked with taking care of them.

The good news is that some zoos have live cameras running 24/7 so that you can view the animals from the comfort of your own home. This is easily our favorite reality TV programming! So take a break from your Tiger King binge and enjoy some live animals from the comfort of your couch.

Some of our favorite zoo streams are listed below:
